We are very excited to announce that The Blue Devils will be coming to Southern California to hold brass auditions for the upcoming 2008 season. If you have ever wanted to audition for this historical corps, THIS would be the year. The Blue Devils are planning for a very exciting and fulfilling season after winning their record setting 12th World Championship. Representatives from the brass and visual staff will be in attendance to hold this audition.

All you need to do is purchase the "2008 Brass Audition packet", e-mail John Meehan (Brass Caption Head) with any questions you may have and then simply show up at 10:00 am Saturday morning December 8th. We will be holding this brass audition in the music facilities at Riverside Community College in Riverside, California.

For this audition, please come prepared to musically demonstrate a) tone, b) tonguing/articulation, c) slurring/flexibility, d) range extension (both directions, especially if you are interested in a lead spot) and e) a 1.5 to 2 minute piece that showcases your individual talents. A full description of what will be looked for is within the "2008 Brass Audition packet". Visually, we will ask you to demonstrate a) marching forward & backward (at varying tempos), b) marking time (high & low leg lift), c) change of directions (slides & pivots) and possibly a few other exercises. There is also a page dedicated to visual audition information within the "2008 Brass Audition Packet". We will be doing individual music and individual visual auditions, no ensemble auditions will be held at this event.

At the end of the audition, we will inform you of your status. It will be either a) you are invited to the first full corps camp on January 18-20, 2008 to continue and complete your audition (we think you have the talent and ability to make the corps musically and/or visually, but need to see you in a full ensemble setting before making the final decision) or b) unfortunately we cannot offer you a spot at this time. There WILL be rare instances when someone is accepted on the spot, so that is also a possibility.

If you have ANY questions, please feel free to contact John Meehan via e-mail.
