There's
No Place Like Home
The '98
BDB production will a journey. From the
idea that life must be better somewhere else (over the
rainbow, perhaps), the corps uses the Overture music
from The Wiz to explore a newfound
freedom.
As in life,
we experience the predicaments involved in the search
for identity and freedom. Witches themes from The
Wizard of Oz, structured with Night On Bald
Mountain and The Amazons, set the tone
leading into our eventual personal battles. The
conflicts are represented through Bernard Herman's
score to On Dangerous Ground, which is also
structured with miscellaneous themes from The
Wizard of Oz.
At the
height of our whirlwind journey, we realize that we
really do miss home. Music from both The Wiz
and The Wizard of Oz, including If You
Believe, Follow the Yellow Brick Road, and
Ease On Down the Road, help guide the
return.
Finally, the
corps completes the journey using So You Wanted To
See the Wiz and a beautiful rendition of
Home.
