The Blue Devils `C' Drum and Bugle Corps is a beginning level program for children seven - 13 years old (we actually have a few five and six year old children involved, too!). The corps is active year-round and participates in parades, field shows, and special events in Northern California.
Our curriculum is similar to BDB, with a change in priority between the Developmental and Recreational elements. Additionally, the `C' Corps has begun efforts to become better aligned with the MENC National Standards this season. Trying to emphasize a fundamentally stronger educational element, Blue Devils 'C' participated in an exploratory general music session through our Yamaha Music School last October through December.
The Blue Devils 'C' Drum and Bugle Corps will consist of 45 members this season, with an approximate personnel base of 12 brass, 20 percussion and auxiliary, 12 color guard, and 1 Drum Major.
The corps has been rehearsing since October 1996, spending time on technique of the instrument, as well as a general music exploratory class through the Blue Devils Music School (an authorized Yamaha Music School).
Color Guard members participated with the "Blue Crew" (Novice) and "Beyond Blue" (Regional 'A') Blue Devils winter guards.
Members of Blue Devils 'C' are residents of Contra Costa and Solano Counties, and are ages 7-13.
