The Blue Devils 'C' marched in two Independence Day Weekend parades. Friday, July 3, the corps was seen at the Torchlight Parade along First Street in downtown Benicia, where they won the drum and bugle corps division.
There was no parade in hometown Concord this year, so BDC participated in the Saturday, July 4 Independence Day Parade in old town Clayton. Many thanks to the enthusiastic crowds and spectators at both parades!
Look for snapshots later in the week from these Holiday parades!
Generally a non-competitive unit, the Blue Devils 'C' is the youngest of three drum and bugle corps sponsored by the Blue Devils Parents Association. Once considered the "cute corps" BDC now displays competency, as well! (But aren't they still cute?)
Membership is comprised of students age 7-13 from Contra Costa and Solano Counties. They march in parades and field events around the Bay Area, as well as entertain at other non-marching festivals.
The Blue Devils 'C' had the honor of performing for the 1996 US Olympic Synchronized Swimming Team; the San Francisco Giants; and the Special Olympians of Contra Costa County.
See the calendar for upcoming appearances!
The Blue Devils 'C' enjoyed a successful, yet foggy, camp weekend in beautiful Marin County. The weekend included an overnight stay in Tomales, completion of the marching program, lots of good food, a magnificent performance in the West Marin Lion's Club "Western Weekend Parade" at Point Reyes Station and a picnic lunch at Drake's Beach.
Although the fog was heavy all weekend, it did not dampen the spirit of the corps. Friendships became stronger, as did the performance level.
THANKS to the members, staff, and the excellent PARENT CREW. A special Thank You to Jim Patterson of Tomales High School for the use of their great school!
