Join the Blue Devil Open Winter Guard - Open guard - college & high school age

The Blue Devils Open Winter guard will continue to perform as an Open Guard for the 2005 season. The program's basis will be much the same as it has been in the past.

The Design staff and many of the techs will remain the same as last season. Both Dave Meikle & Greg Mar are looking forward to the creative situation that this season can offer. Other staff members will include John Bradford, Kelly Elder, Abby Moore & new to the staff, Debbie Seeley. This is an opportunity for the program to take more creative risks. The agenda for 2005 season will be to find some alternative performing situations for the group. The staff is very motivated to challenge the members to increase their performing abilities.

The quality of the program will continue as it has been. There will be great design and well-trained members.

The staff is very much looking forward to the 2005 season. The show will be decided on very shortly. I have received a lot of positive interest in the guard. We are all looking forward to a very positive & productive season. Hope to see everyone.

Rehearsals and Performances

Most rehearsals take place at Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church (map) or Benicia High School.

Bingo each family is reguired to work bingo. You must be 18 years old to work bingo. This is not negotiable. Families are reguired to work bingo 6 times a year.

The Blue Devil Open Guard has a rehearsal dress code. The staff asks that everyone wear black dancewear. As the weather gets colder layer your clothes. The staff needs to see your body. Your hair should be secured back from your face. Footwear will depend on the rehearsal site. You should always have athletic tennis shoes with you, dance shoes or socks or dance barefooted.

You, the returning members are our best source of new members. Encourage new members to attend or get names and addresses to me and I will put them on the mailing list. No experience is required for the guard membership. All we ask is that you come with good attitude and a willingness to learn.
