
Alfonso “Fonzie” Pitco began his color guard and marching arts journey during his freshman year at Homestead High School (Cupertino, CA), as part of the inaugural junior varsity winter guard team in 2016. He went on to perform in both fall and winter seasons with Homestead until graduating in 2019.
In 2018, Fonzie joined the Blue Devils B Corps color guard for his first drum corps summer, returning to the B Corps in 2020. He also performed with In Motion Performance Ensemble during their 2020, 2022, and 2024 winter seasons. In 2022, he aged out as a member of the Blue Devils A Corps color guard.
Fonzie currently serves as a color guard instructor at Cupertino High School and Homestead High School. His previous instructional roles include Archbishop Riordan HS, Saratoga HS, and South San Francisco HS. Over the years, he has helped earn medals with South San Francisco HS Winter Guard, Saratoga HS JV Winter Guard, and Homestead HS JV Winter Guard. In 2025, Fonzie was honored with the Teresa Moura Director of the Year award at the California Color Guard Circuit Championships.
He remains an active member of Blue Devils Performing Arts, contributing to B Corps social media in 2023, instructing in the 2025 season, and participating in Blue Devils Entertainment performances.
Outside of the marching arts, Fonzie graduated from San Francisco State University in Spring 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Cinema and double minors in Asian American Studies and Dance.
