
Ms. Brooke Farrar is an Instrumental Music Educator based in Northern California and a freelance utility brass and trombone player active in the greater Sacramento and Bay Area. In addition to her role as the Director of Bands at Freedom High School, Ms. Farrar is a seasoned performer who has had the privilege of playing as a soloist with notable groups such as the Folsom Lake Symphony and the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra.
With extensive experience in both performance and education, Ms. Farrar has taught and choreographed for various musical programs across Northern and Central California. She is highly trained in teaching all marching arts ensembles and specializes in Wind Ensembles, jazz band, chamber orchestra, and musical pit orchestras. Ms. Farrar challenges her students to connect with their passion for music through diverse and holistic musical experiences, pushing them to reach their full potential.
Beyond her work at Freedom High School, Ms. Farrar is actively involved with The Blue Devils, a renowned musical non-profit performing arts program based in Concord, California, that emphasizes performance excellence and community accessibility. Ms. Farrar is an alumni of the C and B Corps and performed with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in Denver, Colorado, from 2019-2021. Currently, she serves as a brass educator for the Blue Devils ‘B’ Corps.
Ms. Farrar holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of the Pacific, with an emphasis in brass performance, and will be pursuing a Master of Music in Conducting at the University of California, Los Angeles' Herb Alpert School of Music in fall 2025. This graduate program will allow her to expand her expertise in musical leadership and conducting, further enhancing her ability to inspire and guide students.
She is also an active alumni member of the Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity, continuing her commitment to fostering a strong, supportive network for women in music.
