Christian Gonzalez is a current double major in music education and music performance at the Jacobs School of Music, and studies under world-renowned tubist and pedagogue Daniel Perantoni. Christian has served as principal tubist of the McKinney Boyd Honors Band from 2014-2017, Lone Star Youth Orchestra in 2017, and has performed in a variety of other ensembles and locations, including multiple performances in Spain and France while on tour with the Texas Youth Orchestra and Choir in 2015. Christian served as a member of the 2017 Texas Music Educators Association Symphonic Band under the direction of Kevin Sedatole, director of bands at Michigan State University. In the summer of 2017, Christian became a Drum Corps International World Champion as a member of the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. As for his solo career, Christian has competed in the MISD Concerto Competition in 2015 and 2017, and most recently has performed at the annual Octubafest studio recital at Indiana University. Christian is thankful for his supportive and encouraging high-school band directors, as well as his private teachers Jordonn Smith and Jeff Baker, professor of tuba and euphonium at Texas A&M Commerce. Christian strives to continue with his degree and with the pursuit of musical excellence while at Indiana University and as a member of the Blue Devils, and fully intends on using his low-brass powers for world domination in the years to come.
