Diablo Wind Symphony Features Piccolo Soloist Amy Likar

The Diablo Wind Symphony will present its third concert of the season on Sunday, March 4, 7:30pm, at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek. The concert features the piccolo soloist Amy Likar and members of the DWS Clarinet Section.

The DWS will open the concert with Joseph Jenkins, American Overture for Band. Additonal selections include Second Suite for Band (Reed), Esprit de Corps (Jager), Medieval Suite (Nelson), and Barnum and Bailey's Favorite March (King). Six members of the DWS clarinet section will also be featured on Weber's Concertino for Clarinet.

Amy Likar is a prominent Bay Area soloist and educator as well as being a performing representative of the Powell Flute Company for over twenty years. She has performed with every major orchestra in the area. She will perform Vivaldi's Concerto in C for Piccolo and The Wren Polka.

The 60-member DWS is made up of outstanding high school and college musicians in the area who present several concerts a season that feature prominent guest soloists.

Admission is $12 for general and $6 for students and senior citizens. Tickets will be available at the door or by calling the LRCA ticket office at 925-943-7469.
